How you can help? Do you what to become an ECC Volunteer?
Welcome to ECC Newcastle
The Ethnic Communities Council of Newcastle and Hunter Region is located at 2A Platt Street, Waratah. This is the former site of Waratah Bowling Club which is opposite Waratah Railway Station and bus stop. We are open Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 4.30pm. On site, we have a unique Multicultural Library, hall and commerical kitchen for hire. Our venue is accessable and disabled friendly.
The ECC is a non-profit benevolent organisation, initially established in 1977 as the umbrella body for ethnic communities in the Newcastle and Hunter region. We have grown and we are now also a major provider of health, wellbeing and social programs to a broad cross-section of the Hunter Region Community. We have more than 70 community group members, a majority of which are representative of the established and emerging culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities in this region.
Funded by state and federal governments, the ECC continues to support our established ethnic communities while broadening our reach in the region providing health, wellbeing and social support services to the culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD), frail aged, people with disabilities, disenfranchised youth and special need groups and the broader Newcastle and Hunter Region community.
Check out our calendar for all 9 Centre Based Day Care days and times. Other events and functions at our facility are also listed here.
